Posting Details:

The Department of Human Services in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks applicants for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Counselor Education to teach within and coordinate a new Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization within the existing M.Ed. program.

The M.Ed. program in Counselor Education is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), with a longstanding specialty area in School Counseling and a new specialty area in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) to begin in Fall 2026. We will seek accreditation for the new CMHC program upon graduation of the first CMHC cohort. The successful candidate will maintain an active and productive program of scholarship focused on innovative practices in counseling, coordinate the new Clinical Mental Health Counseling specialization, contribute to graduate teaching and advising, and engage in service to the school, university, and profession. This is a 9-month, salaried, tenure-eligible, in-person position.

The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia offers a rich intellectual and collaborative environment for research, including opportunities for collaboration with faculty with interests in mental health and wellbeing from across disciplines. The Sheila C. Johnson Center for Clinical Services (SJC) offers an ideal environment for on-site clinical training and services. The SJC provides multidisciplinary services for individuals of all ages. The SJC, located in the same building as faculty offices, is committed to working collaboratively with faculty to facilitate hands-on training and research activities.
