Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Evaluation is a position in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions that Supports the Senior Director of Evaluation. In addition to coordinating and performing all included Evaluation Specialist duties, this position; interprets and implements high school and college credit and curriculum standards set by University administration, University System of Georgia, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, national and international policies and practices; manages the maintenance and updates of transfer equivalency databases; administers transfer information sessions and represents the Office and University in academic transfer matters. It also functions as a credit and curriculum liaison between Undergraduate Admissions and entities including, but not limited to Academic Departments, Advising Offices, Transfer Offices, Deans Offices, Registrar, Office of Instruction, Office of Curriculum, Financial Aid, Bursar, Global Education, Griffin and Tifton campuses, Institutional Research, Athletics, Office of the President, Development & Alumni Relations, Board of Regents, other institutions, etc. The Credential Evaluation team has three primary areas of responsibilities, first, to provide timely, accurate and detailed evaluation service of academic credentials for first-year, transfer, and continuing UGA students; second, to serve as a vital member of the evaluation team to ensure the evaluation process functions in a smooth and timely fashion; and third, to support the overall functions of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in recruiting and enrolling an academically qualified, intellectually curious, and actively involved class of first-year and transfer students to the University of Georgia. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following; evaluate the academic credentials of first-year, transfer, and other applicants, check for completeness of application files and communicate directly with applicants about unique issues; for first-year applicants, review high school for specific required courses and advanced coursework, compute grade point averages; for transfer applicants, compute grade point averages, and implement admission decisions based on the standards set by the Faculty Admissions Committee and the University administration; “articulate” transferable academic coursework from previous institutions using that institution’s course description and the UGA catalog, and post credit to the student’s permanent record either manually or through tools that automate the posting of this coursework (for example AIRR); update files when new academic credentials are submitted; review outsourced credential evaluations for applicants who have studied at a non-U.S. college of university; maintain articulation database; assist with the processing of documents for special populations such as departmental credit changes, study abroad credit approval, military forms, transfer of advanced placement awards, athletics certification, residency/verification of lawful presence; participate in the holistic file reading of first-year and transfer applicants; research means to utilize resources and technology to improve admissions process; provide information to applicants, counselors, current students, parents, UGA Academic Advisors, graduation counselors, and Admissions professional staff; actively work with Undergraduate Admissions IT staff on process improvements to gain increased efficiencies.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Extensive experience with college and high school credit and curriculum policies and procedures. Capacity to analyze, coordinate, and execute resolutions. Strong teamwork skills. Working computer knowledge of MS Office products, database systems (UGA Banner Student Information System, Technolutions Slate CRM, AIRR transfer articulation, and data entry. Attention to detail and accuracy, judgment, teamwork, and math skills.

Duties/Responsibilities: Provide timely, accurate, and detailed evaluation of academic credentials for first-year, transfer, and enrolled students utilizing Banner, AIRR, Slate and other tools. Percentage of time: 50

Duties/Responsibilities: Supports the Senior Director in managing evaluation and holistic review of academic and co-curricular credentials of First Year, Transfer, and Special population for admission decisions; address/resolve inquiries in subjects pertaining to admission and transfer credit from prospective and current applicants, admissions personnel, advisors, academic departments, administrative offices, high schools, colleges, other academic entities, etc. Percentage of time: 20

Duties/Responsibilities: Conduct dynamic presentations and effectively answer questions about admission and application processes; provide admission counseling and information sessions with visiting students and families, in person, in group settings, virtually as well as by phone, and electronic communications. They are to also serve as leaders and as a resource for newer and less experienced staff in this area. Percentage of time: 15
