Assistant Manager/Manager (Design & Engineering Scholars Programme)

Job Description

Programme and Scholarship Administration

  • Own and drive end-to-end execution of the scholarship lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, timely, and outcomes-driven delivery across outreach, admissions, and selection.
  • Lead and execute selection processes with rigour, consistency, and alignment to programme standards.
  • Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely execution of scholarship disbursement and associated financial processes, with full accountability for delivery.
  • Continuously optimise workflows and processes to enhance operational efficiency, scalability, and service outcomes.
  • Deliver timely, data-driven operational insights and reporting to support decision-making and governance.

Scholar Performance and Experience

  • Drive scholar performance and progression through active monitoring against defined milestones, ensuring accountability for outcomes.
  • Proactively identify risks and own escalation management, implementing timely, effective interventions in collaboration with University support units.
  • Lead onboarding and integration to ensure scholars are set up for success and fully aligned with programme expectations.
  • Partner with academic mentors and faculties to align academic progression with programme objectives and performance standards.

Engagement, Partnerships and Programme Impact

  • Lead execution of high-impact events and engagement platforms that strengthen scholar development and overall programme experience.
  • Own and deepen industry partnerships to deliver relevant, outcome-focused exposure opportunities aligned with programme goals.
  • Drive alumni engagement as a strategic lever to support mentoring, networking, and programme visibility.

Stakeholder Management and Communications

  • Act as the primary operational lead accountable for stakeholder engagement across scholars, faculty, partners, and internal teams.
  • Ensure clear, consistent, and purpose-driven communications that enable effective programme delivery and stakeholder alignment.
  • Uphold quality and consistency of all outward-facing materials, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and positioning.

Operational Governance and Resource Management

  • Own programme operations, ensuring alignment with governance, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive disciplined resource utilisation with accountability for budget performance and financial outcomes.
  • Partner with Finance and central units to ensure accurate forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Provide hands-on operational leadership to ensure seamless execution across all programme workstreams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or an equivalent discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in programme operations, delivery, or coordination, preferably within the academic, education, or public sector.
  • Experience in supporting student programmes, scholarships, or large-scale events will be advantageous.
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management, including engagement with senior academic staff, industry partners, and internal stakeholders, with the ability to align diverse expectations.
  • Meticulous and detail oriented, with strong accuracy in handling administrative processes, financial documentation, records, and reporting.
  • Strong commitment to student development and success, with the ability to provide responsive, professional, and empathetic support within a structured programme environment.
  • Effective organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficiency in administrative systems, data management, and digital platforms, with the ability to leverage tools to support operational efficiency.
  • Self-driven with sound judgement, demonstrating initiative and a collaborative, service-oriented approach to work.
