The Department of Chemistry and Physics at Southeast Missouri State University is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure track faculty position to support our forensic chemistry program. The position is available August 01, 2026
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach forensic chemistry and other chemistry courses at the introductory and advanced levels
- Support the forensic chemistry program and forensic chemistry majors through, for example: Curriculum development, academic advising, assisting students with internship placement and career development, fostering and expanding relationships with the local crime lab, etc.
- Establish a productive, multifaceted research program involving undergraduates
- Participate in service activities to the department, college, university including but not limited to academic advising, committee membership, public service and outreach, on-campus engagement, and student recruitment and retention
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. (with Ph.D. by August 2026) in Forensic Chemistry or another chemistry-related field (analytical chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, etc.). Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university.
- Demonstrated potential to develop successful research involving undergraduates
- Demonstrated experience teaching chemistry at the college/university level as a graduate assistant, instructor, or above
- Experience or potential for program leadership in forensic chemistry
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, and students in a collegial academic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated evidence of commitment to teamwork, collegiality, and collaboration when interacting with others within and outside of the university community.
