Job Overview
UC Clermont College provides student-centered undergraduate education in an open-access, regional college environment. We foster intellectual, cultural, and social development among our student community. UC Clermont College has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students and is located in Batavia, Ohio, twenty miles east of the University of Cincinnati’s downtown campus. We offer a variety of associate’s degrees, two-year technical degrees and certificates, and prepare students for transition or transfer into baccalaureate degree programs. To this end, the Science & Health Department at UC Clermont College seeks applications for a tenure-track, teaching-focused faculty position in Biology at the level of Assistant Professor. The position will begin August 15, 2026, unless otherwise indicated.
Essential Functions
Tenure-track faculty responsibilities include the following:
- Teaching twelve (12) credit-hours for each of two primary semesters (Fall and Spring), including lectures and labs during day, and possibly evenings as needed.
- Scheduling a minimum of four (4) office hours per week,
- Participating in ongoing scholarship and/or research, and
- Participating in service to the department, college, university, and community.
All candidates must demonstrate/provide evidence of effective teaching and professional development and must have appropriate degrees awarded by the time of appointment.
Selected candidates should expect to focus on teaching first and second-year biology courses, including non-majors’ courses. Candidates may be asked to teach other courses included in the Biology department.
Minimum Requirements
Ph.D. in biology, or a closely related field (e.g., biochemistry, cell biology, microbiology, physiology) and one (1) year of college-level teaching experience as the primary instructor. The candidate must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining high academic standards while encouraging and supporting students with varied backgrounds, interests, and aptitudes.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Experience teaching lecture and lab in Anatomy & Physiology, Genetics or Cell Biology, proficient in using innovative instructional technologies and techniques, and at least three (3) years teaching biology in an institution where students have varied interests, degrees of preparation, and aptitude.
