Assistant Professor
The Social Sciences Department has an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology in the undergraduate psychology program starting in the 2026-2027 academic year.
The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for teaching six courses each academic year (3-3). Courses will primarily include undergraduate clinical and/or counseling psychology courses, General Psychology, courses in the research methods sequence (e.g., Statistics and Research Design, Critical Thinking in Psychology, Foundations of Behavioral Research, Integrative Capstone), and additional upper-level courses in the candidate’s subfield specialization.

Qualifications:
- Earned Ph.D. in psychology (or specific subfield) or Psy.D. required. Applicants who have not earned Ph.D./Psy.D. but will defend before position start date may be considered with letter of support from dissertation chair specifying date of scheduled defense.
- Experience teaching at the university/collegiate level is required. Experience teaching courses related to the theory and practice of clinical and/or counseling psychology, and undergraduate research methods courses preferred.
- Experience as an independent course instructor preferred but will consider applicants with extensive experience as a teaching assistant in relevant courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach 3 courses in Fall and Spring semesters (6 courses per academic year) in clinical and/or counseling psychology, research methods sequence, and other areas as identified by the program.
- Serve as a link to Chatham’s graduate counseling psychology program (MSCP) through maintaining close relationships with the graduate program faculty and serving as an advisor to undergraduate students interested in careers in counseling or enrolled in our integrated degree program (IDP).
- Develop and implement a research agenda which results in peer-reviewed scholarly publications and presentations.
- Actively engage in program/department service, including but not limited to: academic advising; program/department meetings; student recruitment/engagement events; supervising internships; program/department assessment; and other tasks identified by department chair.
- Actively engage in university service, including but not limited to: university and College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) faculty meetings; professional development seminars/workshops; service on university committees.
