The rapidly growing Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering at Chapman University invites applications for a key member of the leadership team as Associate Professor of Computer Engineering with Tenure and Associate Dean of Technology and Research, effective August 2026.

The successful candidate will be a collegial scholar-leader with a record of research excellence, effective teaching, and demonstrated success in academic leadership.

Faculty Responsibilities

As a tenured faculty member your primary responsibilities include:

  • Research: Continue a productive and externally visible research program in their area of expertise.
  • Teaching: Teach courses in their discipline that support the School’s degree programs.
  • Mentorship: Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Service: Contribute to the School and Chapman University through committee work and other forms of service.

Associate Dean Responsibilities

While serving as the Associate Dean of Technology and Research you will be provided with a secondary administrative appointment with course releases and a stipend of $25,000 for duties including but not limited to:

  • Research and Technology Initiatives: Lead and execute special projects related to research infrastructure, technology advancement, and innovation.
  • Technical Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison with internal and external technical entities to ensure the School’s infrastructure aligns with current and emerging best practices and technologies.
  • Infrastructure Leadership: Collaborate with faculty and students to ensure that physical and computational infrastructure effectively supports teaching and research.
  • Internal Collaboration: Partner with Chapman’s Information Systems & Technology division to strengthen support for the School’s teaching and research missions.
  • External Partnerships: Develop and maintain relationships with professional associations, industry partners, and advisory board members to expand opportunities for faculty and students.
  • Strategic Development: Work with faculty to design, deploy, and maintain technology solutions that enhance research capabilities and advance the School’s strategic goals.

Qualifications

Required
Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
Academic experience commensurate with the rank of appointment of Associate Professor.

Desired
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong leadership, possess knowledge of technologies that support teaching and research in engineering and computer science, and have experience with industry-standard tools.

Application reviews will start January 8, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience. The salary range for the faculty position is $130,000 - $145,000 in addition to an annual stipend of $25,000 while serving as the Associate Dean. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. Appointment is contingent upon final budget approval.
