General Information

The rapidly growing Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering at Chapman University invites applications for a key member of the leadership team as Associate Professor Electrical Engineering with Tenure and Associate Dean of Academic Programs effective August 2026.

The successful candidate will be a collegial scholar-leader with a record of research excellence, effective teaching, and demonstrated success in academic leadership.

Faculty Responsibilities

As a tenured faculty member your primary responsibilities include:

  • Research: Continue a productive and externally visible research program in their area of expertise.
  • Teaching: Teach courses in their discipline that support the School’s degree programs.
  • Mentorship: Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Service: Contribute to the School and Chapman University through committee work and other forms of service.

Associate Dean Responsibilities

While serving as the Associate Dean of Academic Programs you will be provided with a secondary administrative appointment with course releases and a stipend of $25,000 for duties including but not limited to:

  • Academic leadership
  • Chair of School curriculum committee
  • Oversight and coordination of accreditation and assessment and ensure proper communication of program materials
  • Coordination of mentoring for junior faculty
  • Assist Dean with faculty hiring plan
  • Provide School data on academic programs including, but not limited to, program learning outcomes, recruitment, enrollment, retention.
  • Coordinate with Program Director(s) and Admissions on recruitment and enrollment
  • Oversight of student success resources including advising and career
  • Coordinate with Program Director(s) on course schedules and faculty workload
  • Assist Dean in evaluation of faculty for tenure and/or promotion

Qualifications

Required
Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
Academic experience commensurate with the rank of appointment of Associate Professor.

Desired
Whereas we welcome applicants from all disciplines in these fields, preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds and research interests in electrical engineering and demonstrated leadership of academic programs.

Application reviews will start January 8, 2026, and will continue until the position is filled. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience. The salary range for the faculty position is $130,000 - $145,000 in addition to an annual stipend of $25,000 while serving as the Associate Dean. Successful completion of a background check is required for the final candidate. Appointment is contingent upon final budget approval.
