Associate Professor of Practice in Film: Practical Effects and Props

The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Liberal and Fine Arts and the Film/Media program invite applications for the position of Associate Professor of Practice.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will teach one section of Practical Effects and Props, introducing students to the theory, history, and practice of practical effects, with hands-on training in the creation of props and practical effects for student productions. The course will be crosslisted between the Film/Media Program and the Dramatic Arts Program and so should ideally serve students across both majors.

This is a temporary position with an expected end date of 12/2026. This position may be extended or shortened based on availability of funds and/or departmental need.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will possess extensive professional experience in the property department for major films and/or television shows.
• This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
