Building Services Technician (Fixed Term)

Applications are open for permanent position as Building Services Technician based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC) - a state-of-the-art research building located on the Biomedical Campus which opened in 2019 and houses up to 900 staff in three separate research Institutes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Building Services Team supporting the efficient and effective functioning of the JCBC and the research groups housed here. As a Building Services Technician you will be a key part of the Building Services Team, working together to provide an outstanding service.

Within this role you will have a wide range of responsibilities which includes, undertaking breakdown and/or preventative maintenance, establishing systems for routine inspections, prioritising planned maintenance, carrying out modifications and improvements to rooms, facilitating WEE & chemical waste disposal, assisting with safety compliance activities and testing, and being part of an out of hours on call rota.

We are looking for a motivated individual with the can-do proactive approach needed to meet the unpredictable nature of the workload. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate good organizational and prioritisation skills, excellent levels of communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of laboratory environments and hazards and IT competence. Previous experience in a similar role, including carrying out maintenance tasks, are also essential.

The post is available for up to full time hours, but we welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working or other flexible working arrangements. The post will be on 1 year fixed term contract in the first instance with the possibility of extension thereafter.
