Belhaven University, a Christian university dedicated to integrating biblical truth and academic excellence, invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair of the Psychology Department. We seek an experienced educator with administrative experience who demonstrates visionary leadership, academic strength, and a strong Christian faith to advance the mission of Belhaven’s psychology programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive leadership of the on campus and online psychology degrees
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of new academic initiatives
- Ensure continued excellence in teaching and learning across both traditional and online platforms.
- Lead student recruitment and enrollment efforts.
- Responsible for budget oversight and planning
- Ensure that all full-time and part-time faculty meet accreditation and licensure standards and are aligned with the mission and culture of Belhaven University.
- Collaborate with university leadership in budgeting and planning, ensuring efficient and mission-aligned resource allocation.
- Teach three courses per semester as needed to support the curriculum.
- Model professional excellence and a Christ-centered approach to teaching.
- Other duties include curriculum development, oversight of faculty assignments, and review of course evaluations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- The successful candidate must articulate a Christian worldview in one's area of service and must fully support the University Vision, Mission and Statement of Faith. https://www.belhaven.edu/about/mission/
- Earned doctoral degree in psychology or related field from a regionally accredited institution is required.
- Minimum of three years of experience in psychology instruction, including teaching, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
- Prior leadership, management, or administrative experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated competence in both traditional and online education.
- Passion for serving students from diverse backgrounds with care, support, and academic rigor.
- Mature Christian faith with the ability to articulate and integrate a biblical worldview in the context of nursing education.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and external partners.
