About the role
We are looking for a Clinical Research Fellow to work in our Transplant Research group. You will be appointed to undertake the phase-1 clinical trial:
Extra-corporeal liver cross-circulation in the treatment of acute-on-chronic liver failure: a safety and feasibility study (ELC-1).
The research will be undertaken as part of the Oxford Transplant Laboratory, University of Oxford. The two study sites are: King’s College Hospital and Royal Free Hospital.
The post is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Invention for Innovation (i4i) programme. It is anticipated that a DPhil in Surgical Sciences will be undertaken as part of the role.
This full-time post is available from 1st October 2025 and is fixed-term until 1st October 2028.
About you
Essential selection criteria:
- Medically qualified, core training in surgery completed, MRCS (or equivalent) obtained.
- Academic ability and track record of achievement.
- Evidence of initiative in planning and carrying out research projects.
- Technical ability.
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
- Organisational ability.
- Decision-making ability.
- Communication skills to enable effective collaboration within the multidisciplinary team.
- Enthusiasm and commitment.
Desirable selection criteria:
- Enrolled in higher surgical training programme in General Surgery
- Previous research experience with track record of publications
- Experience in liver transplant surgery and liver normothermic machine perfusion
- Experience in intensive care medicine
