The Institute of Immunology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Free University of Berlin studies host immune responses following infections, with a focus on helminth or protozoan infections.
Scope of work:
The candidate will conduct a study funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) on the influence of macronutrients in a large animal model, the pig. Veterinary training is required to conduct this animal study. The study includes extensive immunological, parasitological, and microbiological analyses of stool, blood, and tissue samples from pigs. Excellent English language skills are required.
Requirements:
Completed university degree in veterinary medicine, license to practice as a veterinarian
Desired:
• Experience in immunological and parasitological techniques (primary cell isolation, cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISA, histology, Kato-Katz, PCR)
• Experience with animal experiments, preferably in the pig model
• Experience in relevant analysis and statistical software (FlowJo, R or Python)
• The studies will be carried out in collaboration with researchers in Kenya.
Therefore, an interest in international cooperation is urgently desired.
