The Institute of Parasitology and Tropical Veterinary Medicine at Freie Universität Berlin represents parasitology and tropical veterinary medicine in research and teaching. A key focus of its research and development activities is the diagnosis and control of emerging and re-emerging diseases, including vector-borne and zoonotic diseases.
Field of responsibility:
• Establishment of methods for the detection of DNA from intestinal helminths in dog fecal samples
• Experimental planning, application for official permits as well as implementation and scientific evaluation of parasitological studies including statistical and, if necessary, bioinformatic analysis
• Collaboration with partners in Germany and abroad
• Scientific documentation and publication of study results
• Veterinary care of laboratory animals
• The possibility of obtaining a doctorate within the project is given
Requirements:
Completed university degree in veterinary medicine, license to practice as a veterinarian.
Desired:
• Experience in the field of molecular biology (e.g. PCR, nucleic acid sequence analysis, DNA cloning)
• Good knowledge of German and English
• Experience with animal experiments (e.g. qualification according to EU category A, C, D, formerly FELASA B)
• Good computer skills (particularly in R statistical software, MS Office)
• Strong scientific interest in veterinary parasitology and One Health issues
• Independent work
• Sociable, willing to communicate and able to work
in a team • Willingness to work abroad for several weeks
• Driving license and driving experience
