Instructor in Sociology
Position Overview
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Rutgers University-Newark seeks a part-time instructor to teach Sociology and/or Anthropology of Mental Health and Illness online.
Responsibilities include:
- Preparing course materials and posting a course syllabus
- Teaching online course sessions
- Holding office hours and providing out-of-class support
- Responding to student emails
- Conducting and grading assessments (assignments, exams, etc.)
- Submitting final grades on time
Special Instruction:
- Include a syllabus for a previously taught course uploaded under “Other Documents”
Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience:
- Ph.D. or terminal degree strongly preferred
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level highly desired
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience teaching sociology or anthropology
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: Minimum of $2,777 per credit
- Salary determined by qualifications, experience, department/grant funds, market benchmarks, and internal equity
