Medical Laboratory Technician
Description
This position supports patient care by providing accurate medical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information. The role is responsible for performing routine laboratory tests on human body fluids and tissues to generate reliable data for the healthcare team. The individual ensures compliance with quality assurance and quality control standards, evaluates the accuracy of test results, monitors instrument performance, assesses specimen suitability, and applies sound clinical judgment in all aspects of testing.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The mission of Student Health Center is to provide physical, psychological, environmental and wellness services to North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University students, facility, and staff. As a health organization operating with an academic institution, the Student Health Center is committed to the support of the educational, research and service mission of the University. Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of laboratory experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require compliance with current Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) Regulations.
Preferred
- Graduation from an accredited MLT/MT/MLS program and successful completion of a national certification exam by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent agency.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biological Science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory principles, procedures, and communication skills typically acquired through formal training and professional experience.
