Position Summary

The Department of Nursing in the School of Education and Health Sciences seeks an innovative, collaborative, and student-focused candidate for a 12-month, full-time open rank professor Nursing position. This role supports pre-licensure and post-MSN licensure programs, including Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Practitioner (PMHNP), Nurse Educator, and Nurse Executive Leadership, ensuring excellence in graduate nursing education and alignment with the AACN Essentials and CCNE accreditation standards.

Description of Key Responsibilities

  1. Teach didactic and clinical graduate nursing courses in pre-licensure and MSN programs, using evidence-based strategies and technology-enhanced learning platforms, such as Canvas.
  2. Follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established and approved by the Graduate Nursing Curriculum Committee and the Nursing Department Faculty.
  3. Develop, revise, and implement didactic and clinical curricula consistent with AACN Essentials, CCNE standards, and the NONPF standards applicable to the FNP program.
  4. Provide clinical oversight, including site recruitment and approval, preceptor oversight in collaboration with the NP Program Director and the Nursing Department Clinical Coordinator.
  5. Enact best practices in nursing education.
  6. Model critical and reflective thinking and foster the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development of learners.
  7. Be available by appointment for academic advising and student consultation.
  8. Provide timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to learners.
  9. Use information from course evaluations in planning instruction and improving the process.
  10. Demonstrate professional and educational values and legal/ethical precepts in interactions.
  11. Exhibit a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, evaluation methods, and other aspects of the role.
  12. Use current research findings and scholarly works in nursing to improve nursing education and practice.
  13. Perform other leadership duties as requested by the Nursing Department Chair, the Dean of SEHS, the NC Provost, or the NC President.
  14. Maintain clinical certification and licensure.
