Open Rank Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty Position in Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry, a basic science department of the Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking to hire a tenure-track or tenured faculty member with expertise in biochemical, biophysical, structural, or related approaches. Outstanding candidates will be considered at the ranks of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor. Research in the department encompasses a wide array of mechanistic studies aimed at better understanding diverse, fundamental biological processes with potential or established links to human health and disease. These include but are not limited to the study of immunity and infectious diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer (for further details see: http://www.biochem.emory.edu/). Current departmental faculty also bridge the School of Medicine’s research mission through participation in broader initiatives such as the Winship Cancer Institute (an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center), the Emory Vaccine Center, the Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, and the Center for New Medicines. Opportunities abound for synergy throughout the School of Medicine and the Emory College of Arts & Sciences, as well as with nearby institutions such as Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia. Faculty members in the department have ready access to state-of-the-art instruments for the broad sweep of biomedical research, including those for X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM, NMR, and mass spectrometry, operated within the department and through the many Emory Integrated Core Facilities (https://med.emory.edu/research/core_labs/index.html).
Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and postdoctoral experience in biochemistry or a closely related discipline. Selection criteria for these positions include a track record of scientific productivity appropriate to current rank/position, as evidenced by primary research publications, current and proposed future extramural funding, synergy with current research in the department and throughout the university, as well as the candidates’ future research vision and potential to contribute to post-graduate teaching and training. Successful candidates will be expected to build a dynamic, independent research program designed to impact and translate fundamental understanding of the molecular basis of human health and disease.
Applicants must apply online at https://faculty-emory.icims.com/jobs/156752/job to be considered. The following information is required to be compiled as a single PDF file:
- Cover letter highlighting key qualifications.
- Current curriculum vitae with a complete bibliography.
- Names and contact information of three references.
- A research statement (< 3 pages) comprising descriptions of past accomplishments, including a summary of up to 3 publications that best epitomize the relevant expertise of the applicant, and future research plans.
- A statement (< 1 page) of how your lived experiences have informed your approaches to mentoring and/or career goals.
Application questions should be emailed to: BiochemFacSearch@emory.edu
The initial review of applications will begin on December 15, 2025 and applications will be considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
