Applications are invited for part-time adjunct faculty positions in the Department of Civil Engineering. These adjunct faculty positions are non-tenure-track appointments for fall semester 2025 and/or spring semester 2026, with possible extension as needed by the department. The primary role of this position is to teach, and a typical appointment would be one or more classes a semester depending on need.
Adjunct Instructor and/or Adjunct Assistant Professor positions to teach one or more courses in the areas of Project Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Statics, and Mechanics of Materials. Course modality is in-person. The Project Management position includes both in-person and online course modalities and has the potential to be a full time adjunct position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- developing and teaching courses
- demonstrating high command of the subject matter
- having well organized course plans and delivering courses clearly to students
- helping students fulfill their academic needs
- assessing and grading student learning, and holding office hours.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. (assistant professor) or M.S. (instructor) or equivalent in Civil Engineering, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university
- One year of relevant teaching experience at the college level (graduate TA experience acceptable) or professional experience in a relevant field
- Effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position
- Experience in using technology for teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering licensure
- Two or more years of relevant college-level teaching experience
- Two or more years of professional experience in a relevant field
- Terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant field
- Expertise in using technology for teaching
- Demonstrated experience with assessment
- Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $5,700 - $8,985 per course; depending on education/qualifications/experience.

This approach ensures that compensation reflects the value and unique contributions of each candidate while maintaining equity within our organization.
