Position description
The UC Davis School of Medicine, Department of Radiology is actively recruiting for one full-time Diagnostic Pediatric Radiologist in the Professor of Clinical "X" Series or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series, at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank (commensurate with experience and credentials).
Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is essential for appointment in this series.
Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Candidates must possess an M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree. Applicant must be fellowship trained in Pediatric Radiology or possess equivalent work experience and have a documented interest in research and teaching. Candidates must be licensed or be eligible for full licensure in the State of California, including eligibility obtained under a 2113 CA special permit. Expertise in most aspects of General Pediatric Radiology (excluding Neuroradiology, Interventional Radiology, and Nuclear Medicine) is required. CAQ eligibility and an excellent track record in scholarly activities is preferred.
Clinical responsibilities include all areas of pediatric radiology (radiographs, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, and MRI). Clinical service coverage is at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. Daily and call coverage is divided equally among all faculty within the division. Most teaching is conducted during daily read-out sessions with residents. Pediatric Radiology faculty also share in the division’s responsibility to deliver didactic and case-based conferences to Radiology residents and medical students rotating in Radiology. The group participates actively in multidisciplinary conferences.
The Department of Radiology performs approximately 400,000 examinations per year and has 45 full-time faculty, including 4 Pediatric Radiologists. The department has state-of-the-art equipment, including new MRI scanners and a brand-new pediatric fluoroscopy suite. It is the country’s first adopter of the new ultra-high-resolution Cannon CT scanner. The new Explorer total-body PET/CT scanner offers abundant research opportunities.
UC Davis Children’s Hospital offers EOS imaging systems for ultra-low-dose radiography. UC Davis Health is the first children’s hospital on the West Coast and the fourth in the nation to be designated a Center for Children’s Surgery Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (CSPIPS). UC Davis Children's Hospital performs approximately 80,000 pediatric radiology studies per year. As the Central Valley’s only level I pediatric trauma center, level IV neonatal intensive care unit, level I ACS-verified children’s surgery center, and fetal care and treatment center providing care for children in 33 counties covering 65,000 square miles, with 30 pediatric subspecialties, UCD is an indispensable resource for critically ill children who require the highest level of medical attention. UC Davis Children’s Hospital has 49 NICU beds, 24 PICU beds, 49 Gen Peds beds, 13 ER Peds beds, 24 Post-op beds, and 7 operating rooms and in 2023 had 7412 total hospital admissions, 5488 total surgeries, 115,065 clinic visits, 2525 transfers, 110 new pediatric cancer patients, and 19588 emergency room visits.
