Post Doctoral Scholar
The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy seeks to hire academic postdoctoral scholars for the 2026-27 school year (July June). These 12-year positions are designed to provide scholars with formal mentored teaching experiences in pharmacy-based coursework, unique research opportunities with faculty, service to the college and profession, and support for professional development.
Each scholars effort will align to the following breakdown:
50% - Teaching. With faculty support, the scholar will be the primary instructor of 3 undergraduate pharmaceutical science courses per academic year; these courses may include but not be limited to: Drugstore Science, Generation Rx: Americas Drug-Taking Culture, Cosmetic Science, Drugs that Changed the World, and/or Addicting Drugs. Opportunities to teach in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum may also be available. Courses could be taught via in-person or distance-based delivery formats, and other teaching duties may be assigned as needed and based on the scholars expertise and interest.
20% - Research. Under faculty mentorship, the scholar will lead research project(s) focused on teaching/learning, participate in research teams within the college and college-based practice sites, and/or mentor students or other trainees in research projects.
10% - Service and professional development. The scholar will participate in College of Pharmacy committee work to gain experience with higher education governance. Other service activities with professional associations may also be supported. The scholar will also engage in activities that expand their teaching skills, develop new pedagogical strategies, and contribute to the teaching and/or clinical evidence base at the local and national level. An opportunity to earn a Teaching Certificate is available.
Up to 20% - Clinical precepting as appropriate for pharmacists. For non-pharmacist fellows, this effort will be adjusted accordingly in agreement with the mentoring team.
Required Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field. A successful candidate will possess a strong skillset in the following: knowledge of medicine science and/or contemporary drug issues; ability to communicate information to students in a learning environment; strong organizational and project management skills; the ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders at once; and, motivation to learn and leverage evidence-based teaching and learning strategies in the classroom.

Compensation: The salary is $61,008 - $64,000 depending on experience level and comes with a full benefits package. Scholars will also be supported with travel/professional development funds.
