Post-Doctoral Scholar
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Kentucky is seeking to hire a Post-Doctoral Scholar for the Gerber/Sasse Lab. Our lab is focused on improving therapeutics for lung disease through studying the genetic and molecular basis of inflammation and airway cell differentiation as a scientific team. Experimental approaches include analysis of molecular/genetic responses to air pollution, nicotine, glucocorticoids and cytokines in airway smooth muscle and airway epithelial cells. Multi-omics methods are utilized, including ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and genome editing to determine the role of specific factors in airway cell differentiation and disease processes, including IPF, asthma and COPD. Responsibilities will include designing, performing, and repeating a wide range of molecular biology experiments, and ability to technically replicate complex experiments is required.
The ideal candidate must have a Ph.D. and should exhibit expertise in molecular and cell biology and/or bioinformatics. Critical thinking and a desire to become independent in the design, management and interpretation of molecular biology and multi-omics experiments are preferred. Advanced training opportunities and attendance at relevant meetings and workshops are available for motivated candidates.
