The Bernburg-based Department of Agriculture, Ecotrophology and Landscape Development invites applications for the professorship of
Landscape Planning (salary group W3)
which is to be filled at the earliest possible date.
Job Description:
The professorship takes on a major role in shaping the subject areas of landscape and environmental planning. Thus, it also bears responsibility for the coordination of application-oriented research, teaching and continuing education beyond the field of appointment. Integrative approaches in landscape planning are a characteristic feature of the professorship.
The main focus of the teaching activities lies in the degree programs Nature Conservation and Landscape Planning, Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning as well as Landscape Architecture (the only program where all classes are taught in English). The professorship includes teaching the basics of planning theory and the complex planning system of project-related and precautionary environmental planning, including integration into spatial and urban land use planning. Additionally, the professorship focuses on current assessment methods for all protected goods. In particular, aspects of climate protection and climate change adaptation, biodiversity protection, recreational planning and the development of multifunctional solutions need to be addressed. Module courses/classes in landscape planning, environmental assessment, management planning and monitoring, recreational planning and related subject areas are part of the teaching schedule of this post.
The professorship requires a high level of commitment to supervising bachelor's and master's theses, student projects and excursions, to the strategic further development of the consecutive degree programs, as well as the expansion and development of career-integrated, continuing education and cooperative degree programs. Studying at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences is based on intensive cooperation with companies as well as research and training partners.
To ensure the highest standards of research, we actively collaborate with national and international universities, research institutions, companies, professional associations, as well as other departments at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. A high level of commitment to the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and research and development projects is expected.
Anhalt University of Applied Sciences has the right to award doctorates in research-intensive disciplines. Active participation in the inter-university doctoral center "Life Sciences" and in the research area "Sustainable Land Use" (*Nachhaltige Landnutzung*) is fundamental to this professorship.
International networking in the subject area of the professorship is a must, as is the willingness and ability to provide impulses for internationalization and sustainability-oriented action in research and teaching.
The ability to engage in inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation with partners from science, society and business is just as much required as the further development of the central degree programs and involvement in the University’s academic management structures (*akademische Selbstverwaltung*).
Requirement Profile:
We are looking for a renowned candidate with the specific qualifications and prerequisites for the professorship, including expertise in landscape planning, planning systems, nature conservation, climate protection, environmental assessments, and environmental planning, as well as the necessary information technologies.
The future position holder should demonstrate expertise in the acquisition and implementation of national and international cooperation and third-party funded projects with partners from science and practice.
The applicant is required to have published in the main research areas of the field related to the appointment. Participation in associations and research networks as well as maintaining a stable network in the context of the field of appointment in Germany and abroad are essential aspects of the position in question.
The applicant (m/f/x) has graduated with a relevant university degree and has successfully completed a doctorate in the field of appointment.
In teaching, the successful applicant is expected to teach program-relevant contents in both English and German in Bachelor's/Master's degree programs employing current approaches. The classes assigned to the professorship are to be further developed using modern didactic methods and techniques. A special focus is to be placed on digital teaching concepts. Current research findings are to be integrated into the curriculum.
Employment requirements:
The requirements for employment are governed by article 35 *Hochschulgesetz des Landes Sachsen-Anhalt* (HSG LSA).
