Research Associate

We have an exciting opportunity for two Research Associates to make a leading contribution to the NIHR-PGfar-funded programme “It Takes a Village”, a complex intervention study that aims to bring task-sharing framework to the UK health system. Task-sharing could close the gap between community services like the family doctor or school, and mental health services.

In this programme, assessments and treatments will be delivered by Community Lay Practitioners. The framework will target common mental health problems (early-stage anxiety, depression and behaviour problems) in children and young people aged 11-18, to prevent worsening of their mental health.

We are undertaking research with communities and clinicians to co-design the framework. The project includes the use of a series of creative/ participatory qualitative methodologies to construct assessment and treatment pathways.

These posts require strong qualitative skills, including data generation and collection, data analysis and interpretation, as well as workshop facilitation. The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to research activities that include process evaluation, design of digital standardised assessments, randomised control trials and implementation science. In addition, the candidate will commit to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.

The project will be led by Professor Helen Minnis and Dr Ruchika Gajwani, and you will be embedded in the Centre for Developmental Adversity and Resilience (CeDAR) (www.gla.ac.uk/cedarteam), a cross-University, national and international centre of research excellence, based in the School of Health & Wellbeing.
