Research Dietetic Technician - Clinical Translational Research Unit
Position Summary
Provide specialized food service for inpatient and outpatient research participants in accordance with research protocols requiring precision and accuracy, while adhering to food safety standards.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare (including cooking and/or baking) and serve foods following specified research recipes and/or procedures. Weigh all ingredients with accuracy of 0.1 gram.
- Promptly weigh back and record uneaten/refused food items from packed out or inpatient meals as needed.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures related to food safety including storage, preparation, holding, and service.
- Continuously maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and facility, adhering to assigned cleaning.
- Provide ongoing communication and updates with nutrition supervisor and nursing staff to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
- Accurately prepare mixed meal tolerance tests which may involve use of stable isotopic tracers.
- May assist with ordering of food ingredients and other supplies.
- May assist with ensuring that level of food production meets given timelines.
- May assist with training of research dietetic assistants as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned or necessary to accommodate research protocol requirements or as workload changes schedule.

Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
Certifications/Professional Licenses:

Required Qualifications:
- Registered Dietetic Technician or four year degree in nutrition or related field.
- Experience with hospital food service/food handling, clinical dietetics, or nutrition research.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a food or nutrition related field.
- Two years foodservice or research experience.
- Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) professional certification through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Salary Range
$17.34 - $25.40 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
