As part of UWE’s Computer Science Research Centre, you will join a national team delivering TREvolution. This ambitious project sits at the heart of the UK’s aim to establish a safe and collaborative, AI-enabled network of Trusted Research Environments
You will play a key role in the project delivery by:
- Helping produce software prototypes as part of the co-design process with stakeholders;
- Guiding the transformation of research outputs into robust production-ready implementations that conform to high standards of trustworthiness and safety;
- Contributing to the maintenance and extension of the open-source repositories within the sacro family;
- Liaising with other TREvolution partners and our international stakeholder community to agree common standards and best practice for development and documentation.

About you
You will be passionate about the social good that AI and advanced analytics might bring, but respectful of people’s concerns about privacy, and the need to ensure inclusive benefits for all.
You will hold a BSc. in Computer Science or related subject and be able demonstrate continuing professional development of your software engineering expertise.
You will be proficient in producing high-quality software using Python and experienced in working on collaborative projects using GitHub or similar, and CI/CD practice and workflows.
It would be a benefit if you had some experience of:
- some analysis languages such as R or Stata,
- Machine Learning frameworks such as pytorch or tensorflow.
Prior experience of working in a research environment would also be a benefit.
Where you will be working
In this role, you’ll be based at our modern Frenchay Campus
You’ll spend most of your time on campus, with the opportunity to work from home on the remaining days.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post until 31st March 2027, working 37 hours per week.
