Description

The Stony Brook University School of Nursing invites applications for (2) tenure-track faculty positions to advance the School's research mission and contribute to excellence in nursing education, scholarship, and service. We seek a dynamic nurse scholar whose program of research aligns with one or more of the School's strategic priorities such as climate and health and healthy aging, but also aligns with health equity and health access. Other areas of inquiry might include rural and underserved populations, perinatal and maternal health, mental health, health systems innovation, and technology-enhanced care delivery.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant, interdisciplinary community of researchers dedicated to advancing health outcomes through evidence-based inquiry, education, and practice partnerships.

At the rank of Assistant Professor, applicants must have outstanding research training and demonstrate research productivity and the potential to secure extramural research funding to support their development as successful independent research scientists. At the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, applicants will demonstrate successful track records to obtain funding to support independent programs of funded research. Associate Professor or Professor candidates should also be prepared to mentor junior faculty. All candidates should be prepared to mentor doctoral students, foster collaborative interdisciplinary research, and teach at the undergraduate/graduate levels. Applicants with funded programs of research will receive reduced teaching loads relative to grant effort. Applicants seeking funding will receive reduced teaching loads for the first year.

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD (or foreign equivalent)
  • Have an identified program of research in nursing
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid NY State Professional Registered Nurses License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Postdoctoral Training
  • Established Program of Research with Active Extramurally Funded Grants
  • Research focus in climate and health or healthy aging

To qualify for tenure and/or a senior faculty appointment, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Nursing (School of Nursing's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure).
