An opportunity has arisen for a Service Technician (Barrier) to join our friendly team within a busy Biofacility in South Cambridge.
The Service Technician (Barrier) provides a valuable service to ensure the smooth operation of the biomedical barrier and service areas within the facility with the essential provision of clean cages and equipment, consumables and other stock to meet requirements of staff and researchers.
After initial training you will be able to operate simple machinery in order to prepare, clean, sterilise and maintain animal caging and associated equipment. The role holder will complete general portering duties, primarily the internal distribution of caging, equipment and scrubs to meet research requirements. The role holder will also complete general cleaning of procedural areas, replenishment of PPE and gowns, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the barrier. The role holder shall ensure the correct storage and disposal of all waste materials including clinical waste.
This role is physically demanding requiring regular and repetitive movements including lifting, carrying and manual dexterity for which training will be given.
You will be a team player with good communication skills; be literate, numerate with basic IT skills. You will have good attention to detail, able to work in a clean and organised way, able to manage your own time and workload. Previous experience working with industrial cagewash / autoclave equipment, and an understanding of relevant Home Office regulations would be an advantage.
The post is available immediately and subject to the satisfactory completion of a 3 month probationary period.
