Job Summary/Basic Function
The Dayton Regional STEM School seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as school counselor for the K-5 elementary school.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree completed by August 1, 2026
- Licensed School Counselor in Ohio or able to obtain alternative license by August 1, 2026
- Excellent written and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years experience as an elementary school counselor
Essential Functions and percent of time
Academic - 40%
• Conduct Individual meetings with students and parents
• Prepare and deliver classroom lessons based on determined needs
• Participate in team meetings with teachers
Individual and Small Group Counseling - 30%
• Conduct individual counseling with students/parents
• Serve as consultant to teachers and other staff members
• Plan and lead small group counseling sessions
Administrative Support and Program Development - 15%
Testing and Analysis - 10%
• Support the administrators with organization and administration of state and other standardized testing
Professional/Program Development - 5%
• Pursue continuous growth through attendance at regional conferences; read professional journals; take post-graduate courses
• In conjunction with the middle and high school counselors and administration, plan and evaluate the school counseling program, grades K-12
Working Conditions
Length of contract is one year contingent upon funding. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply. This position is State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) eligible. To preserve the safety and security of the campus community and to maintain the integrity of university operations, it is the policy of Wright State University before making an employment offer at the final stage to verify whether a job applicant has a criminal record.
