We are looking for two Teaching Associates in the School of Mathematical Sciences to plan and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment for modules in at least one of the following areas: pure maths, applied maths, mathematical physics or statistics.

You will be able to carry out duties to the highest standard and to evidence how through your experience you will be able to:

  • Plan and deliver high quality teaching on honours and service modules at undergraduate and master’s level.
  • Innovate and develop our learning environment as part of the Mathematical Education & Scholarship Section.

We are looking for an organised team-worker who can evidence:

  • A current, or soon to be completed, PhD in mathematics, statistics or related discipline.
  • Experience and enthusiasm for teaching mathematics or statistics at undergraduate level.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
  • A compassionate and student-centred approach.
  • A commitment to high standards.
  • An ability to work inclusively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.

These full-time (36.25 hours), fixed term positions are available from 01 September 2025 [or as soon as possible thereafter], until 31 August 2026. Job share arrangements may be considered. Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
