The Center for Language Education of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is seeking an experienced and highly motivated teaching associate to join our iLANG curriculum development under a teaching-learning project entitled “AI-assisted Virtual Reality English Public Speaking Program for Secondary Students”. This project has been awarded HK$30.4 million in funding from the e-Learning Ancillary Facilities Programme under the Quality Education Fund (QEF).
The appointee will be responsible for the following duties:
- Developing and designing an innovative curriculum for the iLANG program informed by the AI-VR English speaking program, and incorporating effective pedagogical approaches;
- Collaborating with researchers, faculty members, and education experts to ensure the iLANG program meets educational standards and addresses the needs of HKUST students;
- Creating detailed course outlines, syllabi, and learning materials that integrate virtual reality and artificial intelligence experiences;
- Identifying and selecting appropriate teaching methodologies, resources, and tools to enhance the learning experience and maximize the potential of VR and AI technology;
- Regularly reviewing and updating the curricula to incorporate feedback, address emerging challenges, and reflect advancements in the intersections of VR, AI and language learning;
- Coordinating with relevant stakeholders of the iLANG program and the QEF project to ensure smooth implementation of the curricula, including scheduling pilot classes and organizing workshops;
- Evaluating the effectiveness of the curricula through assessments, feedback collection, and performance reviews, and making necessary adjustments to improve learning outcomes;
- Collaborating with marketing and communications teams to promote the adoption of the iLANG program through various channels, including social media, press releases, and public presentations; and
- Supporting the Center and coordination of conferences, workshops, and other events related to the iLANG and AI-VR English speaking program.
Applicants should have a master's degree in education, language education, or a related field, with extensive experience in curriculum development, and VR and AI in education, language education, and edu-tech development. The appointee is expected to be fluent in English and Chinese (preferred), with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
