Location: Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador

The School of Arctic and Subarctic Studies at the Labrador Campus of Memorial University in Happy Valley-Goose Bay invites applications for a 3-year (subject to renewal) teaching term position in areas related to Arctic, Subarctic, and Northern studies.

This teaching term position is required to support the growing mandate of the School of Arctic and Subarctic Studies and the Labrador Campus, and to meet the vision and mission of expanding community-led education and research capacities in the region. The successful candidate, if not already a resident, will be expected to relocate to central Labrador and will participate in the academic undergraduate programs of the Labrador Campus including teaching undergraduate courses, designing course materials, and supervising student projects.

Experience and Qualifications

Candidates should hold a minimum Master's degree with related teaching and/or research experience on Labrador or Northern issues. We are looking for individuals who maintain community, research, and/or teaching relationships in Northern regions. Candidates will have a strong record as an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary scholar with experience in Indigenous, decolonizing, and/or community-based methods and methodologies, focusing on key challenges and opportunities in the North. Applications should include the following: A cover letter describing how the applicant meets the criteria for the position and related interests and experiences; An up-to-date curriculum vitae; A positionality statement, outlining relations with, responsibilities to, and/or connections with Northern and/or Indigenous lands, waters, and Peoples (1 page maximum); A statement of teaching interests/philosophy (2 pages maximum); A statement on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (1 page maximum); The names and addresses of three referees (no letters required at this stage).
