Temporary Research Assistant
Position Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Center for Immunity and Inflammation at the New Jersey Medical School.
The Temporary Research Assistant position is part time. Under direction, performs and assists with technical laboratory procedures and analyses in support of specialized research activities in the laboratory. Assists in the set-up, and conducting of experiments as required. Performs other related duties as required.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Under general guidance, provides laboratory and technical support involving research methods and techniques.
- Performs multistage purifications, other assays and tests; propagates specimens and cell culture.
- Communicate and collaborate with numerous individuals on all facets of the project.
- Assists with experimentation and research activities.
- Assists with the maintenance of the Laboratory facilities, equipment, and instruments.
- Maintains accurate records of experimentation and research.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
- Work Environment: Laboratory environment. Moderate noise. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
