Job Description
Orange Coast College is seeking a full-time, equity-minded, tenure-track faculty member in Ethnic Studies, commencing with the Fall 2025 semester. The primary teaching assignment involves all areas of Ethnic Studies. This assignment also includes curriculum and program development; participation in department, division, and college committees; participatory governance activities; collaboration across disciplines; leveraging student support resources; ongoing professional development; and maintaining accreditation.
The assignment may be day, evening, weekend, online, hybrid, or off-campus and is subject to change. Examples of Duties
Duties include maintaining currency in the discipline, demonstrating effective communication and teaching methods, complying with course outlines, maintaining student records, adhering to professional standards, providing instruction in Ethnic Studies, leading curriculum development, and fulfilling professional responsibilities such as teaching scheduled classes and participating in meetings.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Valid California Community College instructor credential; or Master’s in relevant Ethnic Studies fields; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must demonstrate sensitivity to diverse student backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications: Willingness to remediate practices for racially minoritized students, experience in culturally responsive teaching, addressing equity gaps, self-reflection on student learning, participation in governance, leadership roles, and use of technology in teaching.
Conditions of Employment
Salary range: $66,899 to $159,488 annually, plus a $3,902 stipend for an earned doctorate. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. Requires attendance, TB exam, fingerprinting, and proof of eligibility to work.
