REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Is directly accountable and responsible to the Dean of Continuing Education (CE).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the sales development and administration of learning and performance programs and value-added services for business and industry in the SW region of ND.
- Responsible for providing training and development consulting services to business and industry.
- Responsible for the planning, contributing to curriculum development, recruitment of qualified trainers and management of non-credit continuing education programs for workforce development and career pathways.
- Responsible for welding training programs and maintenance and booking of welding trailers.
Create and maintain business relationships with current and potential clients
- Research leads an qualified prospects for new clients to build strong, trusting relationships with business and industry leaders in the defined region. Contact potential clients, opening doors for future sales.
- Identifies major sales opportunities, targets, and closes contracts with existing and potential customers.
- Plans, develops, and manages a schedule to meet current and potential clients. Create business relationships, maintain a list of industry prospects, and prepare action plans to meet with them.
- Is accountable for leads generated, proposals/contacts, and the relationship of sales contacts to contracts.
- Contact existing and past clients to build strong relationships with business and industry leaders in the defined region. Follow up on new leads and referrals received from contacts.
Develops, sells, and administers performance programs for business and industry
- Develop customized proposals to meet the performance initiative needs for organizations and their employees.
- Designs, implements, and manages continuing education programs that support skill development and performance improvement for individuals and organizations.
- Manages responsive learning and performance programs and value-added services.
- Participate in the design, development, and delivery of quality programs with strong revenue potential. Tracks information and follows up on time.
- Plans, manages, reviews performance solutions, products, and curriculum. Promotes, evaluates, and monitors the quality of learning.
- Adjust as needed to achieve the highest results.
- Seeking new opportunities for programs, certifications, and apprenticeships offered through the CE division and working with others to develop and produce programs and products, including marketing and promotional content and materials.
- Negotiates pricing of contracts with clients and facilitators, ensuring learning and performance solutions meet the clients' needs.
- Effectively uses resources, staying within appropriate operating margins and in compliance with NDUS and BSC policies and procedures.
- Assists with recruiting, selecting, interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and supervising part-time temporary CE trainers and facilitators. Communicates employee development needs and facilitators to ensure the curriculum is in line with the company's objectives.
- Monitors trends in learning and development to connect continuing education programs to businesses and the Southwest region of ND, helping organizations and individuals achieve their goals.
- Is accountable for meeting established goals in income generated, leads generated, contracts sold, lead to contract ratio, sales cost per contract, repeat services, client satisfaction, responsiveness, and operating margins. Assists in determining goals and developing appropriate marketing strategies for assigned programs.
- Networks and develops relationships that support the learning needs of businesses, organizations, trade associations, and agencies, and seeks out opportunities that promote Bismarck State College CE as the learning and performance solution provider of choice.
- Works with Bismarck State College Foundation on Grant Opportunities for improving current programs and upstart new programs, certifications, and apprenticeships.
Provides learning and performance consulting services
- Works directly with clients and potential clients to determine business goals and performance gaps and conduct needs analysis, leading to solutions that meet the clients' needs for human performance improvement and value-added services.
- Develops and conducts company needs assessments, organizes and conduct focus groups, gathers data, analyzes issues and needs to determine goals and performance needs. Recommends appropriate solutions for courses, programs, certifications, training, and/or other value-added services that are linked to the company's vision and strategic plan or community needs.
Administrative duties
- Collaborates with the Continuing Education (CE) Operations team on established processes such as client and instructor contract management, class and class packet creation, ordering of supplies, and other event/training logistics such as facility reservations and catering.
- Performs class/training preparation and set-up, including the delivery and retrieval of class packets, facilitates communication and coordination with CE instructors, clients, students, and office staff.
- Encourages and contributes to innovation and continuous improvement by proposing creative solutions to enhance departmental and college-wide processes, supporting a culture that values experimentation and embraces innovation without fear.
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support departmental and institutional goals.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Required Qualifications:
- Appropriate bachelor's degree (business, education, human resources, training and development, curriculum and instruction, sales, marketing, etc.).
- Three years of experience working with the business and industry community in a sales or consultative capacity.
- Ability to overcome rejections and to spend most of the time making contacts and developing relationships.
- Demonstrated successful experience in the areas of contract development, negotiation, customer service, decision-making, project management, marketing, and budgeting.
- Excellent computer software skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, etc., email, and electronic calendar), strong internet familiarity with proven searching techniques, and contact management software knowledge.
- The ability to independently manage simultaneously the details of multiple programs and projects, track activities, and meet deadlines, as well as work in a team environment.
- The ability to effectively organize, focus, prioritize, and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Able to keep track of discussions with clients; follow up with useful information and follow trends critical to clients.
- Knowledge of the business of training adults, the adult learning process, and alternative delivery systems.
- Experience in training and development, management consulting, organizational development, workplace training, and human performance improvement concepts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- The ability to read the communication styles of team members and clients who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines. Ability to collaborate with businesses, industry, organizations, agencies, and associations.
- Travel is required (mostly in the SW region of ND).
Preferred Qualifications:
- More than three years of directly related work experience
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience and knowledge in continuing education programs, adult learning principles and concepts, lifelong learning programs, and how to apply them to solutions.
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis, including surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
- Skilled in facilitation and training.
- Skilled in leadership development programs.
- Worked in virtual/hybrid training platforms
- Evidence of creativity/innovation.
- Enjoys and thrives in a friendly, highly visible, entrepreneurial, and active working environment.

BENEFITS:
Compensation: $45,496-$56,870 depending on experience. This is a year-round, part-time position offering a 30-hour work week and full benefits.
