Senior Research Fellow in Tuberculosis

About the role

The Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research (IOI) is seeking to recruit a Senior Research Fellow in antituberculosis drug discovery and development. This is an exciting opportunity to pursue an independent programme of research in this critical area and to join Oxford University’s Tuberculosis Grand Challenge (https://www.ineosoxford.ox.ac.uk/ioi-grand-challenge-tuberculosis).

Tuberculosis is a leading cause of human morbidity and mortality, and an impediment to economic and social development in many regions of the world. The causative agent, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is increasingly resistant to the available treatments and, as such, a major contributor to the global antimicrobial resistance burden. Consequently, there is an unmet medical need for new, better tolerated and more potent drugs to help reverse the pandemic and to improve global health.

The IOI was established in 2021 to provide innovative solutions to the global problem of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) that threatens our existing way of life. With ~90 staff, IOI is expanding its research portfolio and invites applications for a Senior Research Fellow in tuberculosis drug discovery and development.

About you

Candidates with experience in molecular mycobacteriology, Crispr-Cas technology, drug target discovery and target validation, assay development, cellular and animal models of tuberculosis infection, DMPK, structure-activity-relationship analysis and preclinical drug development are particularly encouraged to apply.

Fellows will have the opportunity to establish their group in a state-of-the-art facility, the recently opened Life and Mind Building (https://lifeandmind.web.ox.ac.uk/) and will benefit from a generous start-up-package to enable them to conduct world class research immediately upon arrival.
