Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication
Overview
The Communication program at Providence College invites applications for a one-year position as visiting assistant professor in Communication and Media. The College welcomes applicants who are generalists with a strong understanding of the history, theory, and methods of the field, with expertise in any subfield related to media, communication, or cultural studies. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and/or experience with engaging diverse students in and out of the classroom. Duties and Responsibilities
This candidate will be expected to teach three sections of the program’s gateway course, Introduction to Communication, in fall 2025 and spring 2026, with the option to teach an upper-level course in the faculty member’s area of expertise in spring 2026.
Education and Experience
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field, a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and be able to foster an inclusive, collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.
