Visiting Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor of Music Education
The Department of Music at Lander University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Music Education to begin on Aug. 10, 2026. Faculty rank and salary is based upon qualifications and experience. This visiting position may be renewed for another year or converted into a continuing faculty line given positive performance evaluation.
Lander University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). The Department offers bachelor’s degrees in Music with K-12 teacher certification with emphases in choral, instrumental, and keyboard as minors in both Music and Music History. The Department offers many ensembles that welcome in students from across campus as well as community members. These include two choral ensembles, a jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, chamber orchestra, piano ensemble, and a number of smaller chamber groups that offer concerts and recitals across the year.
Eligible candidates must have a master’s degree (a doctorate is welcomed); K-12 teaching experience; and experience to hold the rank of Lecturer or Teaching Assistant Professor. Preference is given to those with university-level teaching experience and a record of mentoring students. Candidates should have credentials to teach a variety of Music courses in their areas of specialty—including lower-level introductory courses that are a part of the General Education curriculum. The Department is most interested in persons with the ability to lead choral ensembles.
The candidate should be committed to teaching excellence; willing to contribute to collaborative efforts in advising, recruitment, retention, and departmental growth; and work effectively with a diverse student population.
The teaching load is 36 hours across fall and spring semesters and may include applied lessons in voice. Summer teaching opportunities are available and merit additional compensation. Lander supports on-going training and professional development through its Center for Faculty Excellence.
