Weather and Climate at UIC

The University of Illinois at Chicago experiences a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons.

• Winter (December to February): Temperatures can range from 20°F to 35°F (-7°C to 2°C), with occasional snowstorms affecting commuting and campus life.
• Spring (March to May): Temperatures rise from 35°F to 70°F (2°C to 21°C), with increasing rainfall that can impact outdoor research activities.
• Summer (June to August): Warm to hot, with temperatures between 65°F and 85°F (18°C to 29°C), and high humidity levels that can affect comfort on campus.
• Fall (September to November): Temperatures cool from 70°F to 40°F (21°C to 4°C), with beautiful foliage but also potential for early snow.

Extreme weather conditions like heatwaves in summer and blizzards in winter can occasionally disrupt normal campus operations.
