Frank Ranganai Matenda is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as an MCom in Finance and a BCom in Finance. His research interests include credit risk, corporate performance and risk management, business rescue, investments, corporate finance, financial markets, and asset pricing. Matenda has authored or co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including the 2022 paper "Bankruptcy prediction for private firms in developing economies: a scoping review and guidance for future research" in Management Review Quarterly, the 2024 paper "The influence of economic growth, fossil and renewable energy, technological innovation, and globalisation on carbon dioxide emissions in South Africa" in Carbon Research, and the 2021 paper "Corporate default risk modeling under distressed economic and financial conditions in a developing economy" in the Journal of Credit Risk. Additional works cover topics such as earnings management, stock performance during the COVID-19 pandemic, and financial distress prediction models for municipalities. He has contributed to research affiliated with the Business Rescue Unit at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and maintains an active profile on academic platforms including Google Scholar and ResearchGate.
