The primary focus of this role is the delivery of high-quality education to Year 1 and Year 2 cohorts within the Department.
You will contribute to teaching across our MEng programmes in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive, Manufacturing, and Design Engineering, helping to establish strong foundational knowledge and skills.
A key aspect of the role is to engage and motivate students, enabling them to apply core mathematical and computational techniques to real-world engineering challenges.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering mathematics and computational methods, the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to early-stage learners, and a commitment to high-quality teaching and student engagement.
You will be expected to teach and inspire students in core areas, including:
- Mathematical fundamentals for engineering
- Computational methods and numerical analysis
- Modelling and simulation
- Dynamic systems and control
- Data analysis
The use of industry-relevant tools is highly desirable, including:
- Python / NumPy
- MATLAB
- Simulink / Simscape
In addition to lecturing, you will:
- Contribute to the supervision of Year 3 and Year 4 undergraduate students undertaking individual and group design or research projects
- Support other teaching activities as required by the Head of Department
About you
You will have a PhD (or equivalent) and experience in Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position expected to end in September 2028.
