Minimum Hiring Annual Salary: $52,612.00
Maximum Hiring Annual Salary: $56,821.00
To attain the maximum annual salary, employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:
- 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
- A combination of related education, on-the-job work experience, certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position, may be considered.
The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

The Audio Visual Specialist is responsible for coordinating and supporting audiovisual presentation, needs, and systems. Duties include on-site audiovisual support before, after, and during live internal and external events; installing, integrating, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining audiovisual equipment and systems; developing and advising on specifications for audiovisual equipment and systems; evaluating audiovisual needs and recommending purchases; and inventory control.
Audio Visual Support: 50%
- Support scheduled events as requested/required.
- Provide/coordinate in-person event support, including microphones, projection, lighting, sound, video conferencing, and media inputs.
- Set up, operate, and break down Audiovisual (AV) equipment (projectors, microphones, speakers, video conferencing systems, cameras, mixing boards, displays).
- Troubleshoot and resolve AV technical issues in real time during live meetings and events.
- Consistently monitor all event space AV systems, including basic operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Educate users on the use of AV equipment and systems as needed.
- Proactively assess the needs of audiovisual systems.
- Coordinate AV equipment between departments and campuses as needed.
- Significant involvement in Aims signature events such as Commencement, Conversation, and Convocation Day.
Operate & Maintain Audiovisual Equipment: 45%
- Coordinate all AV (audio, projection/screens, video, and lighting) technical installations, configurations, maintenance, repairs, and replacements with internal partners and/or outside vendors.
- Advise on AV system installations and upgrades.
- Establish and maintain equipment inventory, and perform preventive maintenance, service, repair, and replacement.
- Gather data/feedback, and collaborate with stakeholders to determine needs and develop ways to improve existing solutions.
- Serve as video production crew, as needed.
- Stay current with emerging AV technologies and industry trends.
- Mentor work study staff on AV operations

Minimum Qualification:
- Associate's Degree in Audio Engineering, Production, Video Production, Music, Networking Systems, Recording Technology, Theater, or other related field; plus, five (5) years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
- A pre-employment post-offer physical evaluation will be required of the selected candidate.
- This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
- Intermediate knowledge of audiovisual presentation, recording, lecture capture, and broadcast equipment/systems.
- Positive attitude with the ability to communicate and work with a team in stressful situations while meeting exacting deadlines.
- Knowledge and experience working with internal and external customers.
- Ability to translate complex equipment and system knowledge into simple, easy-to-understand, professional, and engaging documentation.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to accomplish projects independently.
- Ability to guide, mentor, and oversee work study students with AV systems and during events or on occasions.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering, Production, Video production, Music, Networking Systems, Recording Technology, Theater, or other related field.
- Experience with industry-specific manufacturers and equipment, and applicable certifications.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with Creston, Dante, and Biamp systems.
- Following Certificates: Commercial Audio Technician (CAT), Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), Crestron Certified Technology Architect Commercial (CTA-C), Crestron Certified Technology Architect Residential (CTA-R), Certified Audio Engineer (CEA)
