About Aaron

Dr. Aaron Tkaczynski is a Senior Lecturer in tourism and events in the School of Business, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law at the University of Queensland, where he has held a research position since 2009. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Southern Queensland. Since 2021, he has also served as Extraordinary Associate Professor in the Tourism Research in Economics, Environs and Society (TREES) department at North-West University, Potchefstroom, South Africa. Before entering academia, Tkaczynski worked in local government at Hervey Bay City Council, Redland Shire Council, and the Local Government Association of Queensland. His academic interests span teaching undergraduate and postgraduate tourism and events subjects.

Tkaczynski's research expertise centers on market segmentation modeling, with applications in nature-based tourism, eco-certification, Christian events, social marketing, tourism seasonality, and small-scale festivals. He has published in prestigious journals including Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, and Journal of Travel Research.
