Aaron Yoong is Assistant Professor of Law at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University. He holds an LL.B. from SMU, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2019, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School. Yoong was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Lecturer of Law at SMU (2023–2024), Associate in the dispute resolution department at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP (2022–2023), Deputy Public Prosecutor and State Counsel at the Attorney-General’s Chambers, and Justices’ Law Clerk to the Chief Justice and judges of the Court of Appeal and High Court of Singapore (2019–2022). He also held adjunct faculty positions at SMU Yong Pung How School of Law.
Yoong’s research focuses on the law of torts and public international law, with publications addressing vicarious liability, non-delegable duties, nuisance, privacy protection, arbitration agreements, and constitutional procedure. He is the principal author of Commercial Injunctions in Singapore and a contributor to The Law of Torts in Singapore. His work appears in journals including the Tort Law Review, Singapore Academy of Law Journal, Arbitration International, and Torts Law Journal, as well as in Halsbury’s Laws of Singapore and Singapore Academy of Law Annual Reviews. Yoong has received the SMU-START Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship and the Most Outstanding Adjunct Award at SMU. He serves as Young Independent Counsel for the Singapore Supreme Court and National Rapporteur for the General Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law.
