Dr. Aashish Srivastava is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Business Law and Taxation at Monash University's Faculty of Business and Economics. He joined the department in 2007, shortly after completing his Bachelor of Science, LLB, and Diploma in Cyber Law from institutions in India. In 2009, he earned his PhD from Monash University on the topic of 'Acceptance Issues in Electronic Signatures,' which was subsequently published as a book by Springer. With more than ten years of teaching experience at Monash Business School, Srivastava delivers courses in commercial law, marketing law, and IT law to business students. His academic career includes supervision of PhD projects on cyberbullying, hazing, online consumers, and cybersecurity.
Srivastava's research focuses on law and technology, spanning e-commerce law, cybersecurity, e-crimes, legal issues in cyberbullying and hazing (ragging), e-signatures, e-governance, cross-border e-trade, artificial intelligence, and data protection. He has authored numerous articles in prestigious journals, including Information Technology and People, Journal of Business Law, Common Law World Review, Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Review, Computers Law and Security Review, and International Journal of Law and Information Technology. Key recent works include editing Digital Strategy and Governance in Transformative Technologies (CRC Press, 2026), 'Navigating the intersection of innovation and tradition: electronic signatures in US election codes' (Common Law World Review, 2025), 'Beyond consumer protection: how transparent consumer rights disclosure shapes consumer purchasing' (European Law Review, 2025), and 'Adoption of artificial intelligence and big data analytics: an organizational readiness perspective of the textile and garment industry in Bangladesh' (Business Process Management Journal, 2024). He has secured funding through a DFAT grant and several Monash University internal grants to support his research. Srivastava served as an expert witness for the State of Georgia (USA) in 2024 regarding the validity of electronic signatures in voter registration. His expertise is recognized internationally, as he is listed on the roster of experts for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), serves as Associate Editor of Business and Management Research, and reviews for leading journals.
