About Adam

Professor Adam Glaser holds the position of Professor of Paediatric Oncology and Late Effects in the School of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of Leeds. Qualified with BSc (Hons), MBBS, DM, MRCP(UK), and FRCPCH, he practices as a consultant paediatric oncologist and late effects physician at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He directs CHORAL (Child Health Outcomes Research at Leeds), a £5 million five-year initiative funded by Leeds Hospitals Charity, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and the University of Leeds from 2023 to 2028. Other key roles include Research Lead for Leeds Children's Hospital, generating over £1.5 million annually in research income; Clinical Lead for the NIHR Leeds Children’s Clinical Research Facility; and Medical Director of the Yorkshire Specialist Register of Cancer in Children and Young People, the largest specialist population-based register for cancers diagnosed up to age 30. Previously, from 2010 to 2013, he served as Clinical Director of the National Cancer Survivor Initiative at the Department of Health and National Clinical Lead for NHS Improvement (cancer), where he pioneered the National Cancer PROMs Programme and delivered the world's largest cancer PROMs survey for colorectal cancer.

Professor Glaser's research specializations encompass child health outcomes, late effects of health conditions and treatments, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), fertility preservation and reproductive health in cancer patients, cancer outcomes in young people, reproductive and sexual health consequences of cancer, and lived experiences of young people with sickle cell disorders and thalassaemia. He has principal or co-principal investigator status on grants exceeding £10 million in the last five years, including Prostate Cancer UK’s Life after Prostate Cancer Diagnosis (£2,120,289, 2014-19), Yorkshire Cancer Research’s Bladder Cancer Patient Reported Outcomes Survey (£377,242, 2015-23), Macmillan Cancer Support’s CPR for Cancer Outcomes (£689,141, 2015-23), and Candlelighters Trust’s Paediatric Oncology/Haematology Research Fellowship Programme (£2,190,358, 2015-23). He supervises PhD students funded by NIHR and HDR UK and examines PhDs and MDs nationally and internationally.
