Ali Charlton is the Tutor Co-ordinator at Disability Information and Support (DIS) within the University of Otago. She joined the DIS team in 2012 on a temporary basis as Tutor Co-ordinator and secured the position permanently in 2014. Operating within the Learning Support Team, Ali is responsible for co-ordinating a professional tutorial service tailored for students with impairments. Her work ensures that these students have access to essential tutoring support to aid in achieving their academic goals. Ali works closely with a team of around 200 tutors, managing coordination to provide effective assistance.
Prior to her current role, records from DIS newsletters indicate Ali Charlton served as Student Support Coordinator in 2013. She has been a consistent member of the DIS team, featured in a 2018 University of Otago news article highlighting the team's leadership in disability support, where she appears in a group photo alongside colleagues such as Rebecca McFadyen, Laura Starling, Emma Holt, and Toni Patterson-Gallagher. Through her efforts, Ali contributes to the broader mission of DIS, which provides quality support to students with impairments across the university, promoting equitable opportunities in tertiary education. Her ongoing role supports a network of departmental disability contacts and a large team of support personnel dedicated to student success.
