Dr. Amit Datta is a Professor in the Department of Hotel Management, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts at Manipal University Jaipur, a constituent institute of Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from Manipal University Jaipur in 2018, a Master's in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamaraj University, and is an alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata. Dr. Datta joined Manipal University Jaipur in 2014 as Associate Professor and was promoted to Professor in 2023. His research specializations encompass human resource management in hospitality, organizational climate, green human resource management, employee well-being, attrition among younger generations in hotels, and artificial intelligence applications in the hospitality sector.
Dr. Datta has authored numerous publications, including "Artificial Intelligence Through the Lens of Hospitality Employees: A Systematic Review" in the International Journal of Hospitality Management (2025, co-authored with Ekta Kumawat, Catherine Prentice, and Rosanna Leung); "Determining the dimensions of organizational climate influencing hospitality employees" in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management (2018); "Measuring the influence of hospitality organizational climate on employee turnover tendency" in The TQM Journal (2020); "The significance of GHRM in fostering hospitality employees' green creativity: A systematic literature review with bibliometric analysis" (2022); and "Green HRM: A Climate Conscious Route to Triple Bottom Line" (2023). His scholarly output includes 16 journal articles and 4 review articles, accumulating 141 citations and an h-index of 5. He has guided two doctoral theses: "Perceived Workplace Dignity and its Impact on Employees' Commitment and Intent to Quit in the Hospitality Industry" (2025) and "Assessing the green HRM practices of the hotel industry: An Indian perspective" (2024). Dr. Datta's accolades include the National Best Paper Award from GNIHM and Confab 360 (2024), Academic Excellence Awards from Manipal University Jaipur (2023 and 2022), Best Mentor in Hospitality Education from Subharti University, Meerut (2019), Best Professor in Hotel Management Studies from Business School Affair and Dewang Mehta National Education Award (2019), and Best Paper Award from Rajasthan Development Research Foundation (2017). He holds life memberships in the Professional Housekeepers Association, Royal Rajasthan Chefs Society, Indian Culinary Forum, International Society of Hospitality Education, Indian Tourism and Hospitality Congress, and Indian Society of Training and Development.
