Dr. Amit Datta serves as Professor and Head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Department of Hotel Management, Faculty of Management, Commerce and Arts at Manipal University Jaipur, a constituent of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He earned his PhD in Management from Manipal University Jaipur in 2018, with a thesis titled 'Organizational climate and its impact on turnover tendency of hotel employees of Y generation,' supervised by Dr. Raghuvir Singh. Prior qualifications include a Master's in Tourism Management from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2008 and a Bachelor's in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata in 2006. An alumnus of the Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata, Dr. Datta began his academic career as Associate Professor in the School of Hotel Management at Manipal University Jaipur from January 2014 to April 2016, advancing to his current professorial position.
Dr. Datta's research specializations encompass human resource management, organizational behavior, hospitality and tourism management, with particular emphasis on organizational climate, employee attrition and turnover intentions, workplace dignity, green human resource management, and artificial intelligence in hospitality. Key publications include 'Determining the dimensions of organizational climate perceived by the hotel employees' (Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, 2018), 'Measuring the influence of hospitality organizational climate on employee turnover tendency' (2020), 'Turnover intentions and workplace climate in budget hotels' (2022), 'Dimensions of workplace dignity and its influence on intention to quit of hotel employees' (2023), 'Artificial intelligence through the lens of hospitality employees: A systematic review' (International Journal of Hospitality Management, 2025), and 'Bibliometric analysis and systematic review of green human resource management and hospitality employees' green creativity' (The TQM Journal, 2024). His work has garnered significant citations, with the 2018 paper exceeding 100 citations. Dr. Datta has received the Best Paper Award at GNIHM and Confab 360, the National Best Paper Award, and is a co-recipient of a patent grant for the 'Electrically Heated Cloush Device' published in the Indian Patent System and granted by the German Patent and Trade Mark Office.
