Amy R. Greenwood, PharmD, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with a primary practice site at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2020 and completed a Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency in 2021. As Dental Pharmacy Pharmacist-in-Charge, Greenwood co-manages a fully patient-facing, independent onsite pharmacy unique among U.S. dental colleges. Her responsibilities include dispensing medications for dental patients in acute post-operative scenarios, managing therapies for chronic mucosal diseases, providing high fluoride treatments, and compounding custom medications unavailable commercially to personalize dental care. Her practice areas span academia, clinical pharmacy, community pharmacy, compounding, residency training, and PGY1 programs. She is affiliated with the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology, and Medicine in the College of Dentistry.
Greenwood contributes significantly to education and interprofessional collaboration. She teaches throughout the dental curriculum, from first-year students to residents, serving as the primary instructor for ORSC:5280 Advanced Dental Therapeutics. She promotes pharmacist consultations to enhance patient outcomes and has delivered continuing education presentations regionally and internationally. Her scholarly activities include co-authoring the 2025 publication 'What's in your toothpaste? A review of toothpaste ingredients and rationale for their use or avoidance' in Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology and Oral Radiology, alongside colleagues from the Departments of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine and Pharmacy. She presented 'Training in HPV Counseling: Bridging a Pathway to Vaccine Access' at the 2026 ADEA Annual Session. Additionally, Greenwood serves on the Genesis Alumni Board for the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, supporting alumni engagement.
